The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the region (DTI III) has announced that the annual Likha ng Central Luzon (LCL) regional trade fair will be held on October 4 to 8 at the SM Mega Trade Hall, Bldg., B of SM Mega Mall in Mandaluyong City.
Theme for the 8th LCL is “The Best of the Provinces” as it will showcase the best products of the seven provinces comprising Central Luzon.
This year’s fair, according to DTI Regional Director Blesila Lantayona, will have provincial group display highlighting the provincial branding program, unlike the previous years where booth display was according to product sector.
Brands for provinces are Syempre Aurora, Galing Bataan, Tatak Bulakeño, Proudly Novo Ecijano, Vida Pampanga, Tarlac’s Very Own’ and Zambales Finest.
The provinces of Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Zambales will officially launch their branding program during the LCL trade fair. Bulacan and Bataan had launched their provincial brands much earlier, Lantayona said.
The DTI expects 128 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to participate in the fair with 56 exhibitors from the food sector (fresh and processed), 35 from the giftwares and holiday decors, 22 from wearables, 12 from furniture and home furnishings and three from other sectors (cosmetics/personal care, machinery and equipment).
For this year’s fair, there will be a booth design competition wherein a best provincial booth and an individual best booth design for the sectors of food, furniture and home furnishings, gifts and holiday decors, and wearables will be chosen.
Lantayona disclosed that the top three sellers in last year’s LCL will be awarded plaques of recognition and exhibitors who have been regularly joining the LCL since it started in 1999 will be given plaques of appreciation/loyalty award during the opening program.
The LCL has since been improving steadily in terms of sales and participation of exhibitors over the years, Lantayona proudly added. It should be noted, she said, that while sales in LCL 2005 declined compared with the LCL 2004 sales, there was however an increase in cash sales by 42% in 2005.
Likewise, last year’s biggest sales, Lantayona pointed out, was distributed fairly among the SMEs in the different sectors, unlike in previous years when it came mainly from the processed food sector, thus, indicating equally healthy prospects for most exhibitors. (PIA-Pampanga)
