Akaw Rockers!

Calling all Akaw Rockers! No Akaw Invasion 2 yet. I just want to plug my new baby – pinoyrock.net. It’s a blog about, well read the name. Help me spread out the news okay? It’s still in soft launch status or beta mode so there might still be kinks in the design. I’m also looking for contributors who can churn out original articles about pinoyrock, album reviews, and gig reports – in English or Tagalog. There’s no financial rewards yet, but who knows?

The blog is here.

Update: The site is already dead.

  1. joseph,
my younger brother has a rock band in New Jersey. last october, the group during the 60’s called Hot Dog was in the states on tour and they toured with my kid brother as their guest drummer. everytime this group comes to the states including Mike Hanopol ( i don’t know if you know him) calls on my kid brother to play with him on his concert. i was in one of the concert last october of Hot Dog held in north New Jersey near the house of Jon Bon Jovi and it was a jumpacked house. the fire marshall was called to check the capacity of the place. my kid brother has a blog spot that he is a member exclusively for pinoy rockers in the states and in pinas. i will ask permission from him if i cud give you the blog address and maybe he could contribute to ur pinoyrock.net. by the way, my kid brother is also an engineer for the federal reserve bank and being a drummer is his past time. we will be in manila jan 6 ’06 because there will be a rock fest (i forgot the pinpy term) that will be held in Kalibo, Aklan comprising lots of local talents including Hot Dog and Mike Hanopol. my kid brother will be the alternate drummer for the Hot Dog and Mike Hanopol. give a reply on this comment of mine and from there we could do plans to further enhance ur pinoyrock.net

  2. Hi Mel,

Advance Merry Xmas! and Happy New Year

Of course I know Hotdog and Mike Hanopol. I grew up listening to their songs. There’s a new record here called the Best of Manila Sound which pays tribute to Hotdog and other Manila Sound bands of the 80’s. I like to cover every pinoyrock scenes in the planet, in fact i already asked a kababayan from New Jersey if she knows about the rock scene there. So having link to your brother’s blog about stateside pinoyrock is great. I’m glad that you still appreciate pinoy music after being in the US for a long time.
