Environment officer in Aurora sacked over illegal logging reports

Flowery shirts aside, i’m beginning to like Lito Atienza.

from gmanews.tv:

Environment Secretary Lito Atienza on Monday ordered the immediate relief of an environment officer in Aurora province following reports of revived illegal logging operation in Dingalan town.

Sacked from post as Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (Cenro) was Meliton Vicente. He will be replaced by Joselito Blanco, former Cenro for Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija province.

Atienza said he ordered the relief of Vicente after he personally confirmed “from independent sources in the area” the report of the Task Force Sierra Madre (TFSSM) about the revived activities of illegal loggers in the area.

  1. Long live Secretary Atienza! This is great. How about some bigwigs in Aurora who let illegal loggings happen before their own eyes. God is watching you Secretary Atienza.

  2. Illegal is illegal and if one bite the dust,so be it.Last year in the middle of october,me and my wife was in your town for 3 days to visit our nephews(meliton, jude fulgar).Almost a beautiful country side so close, yet so far away.Travel time is one hindrance that may hinder any tourist to visit aurora province(baler or casiguran).A domestic airport is a plus to make aurora province a viable tourist destination, specially for those who loves the oceans.

  3. Did Atienza really approved that logging permit to resume in Dinalungan? Did he really sacked that mole in our community from his post? There are contradicting statements in here. Although Dingalan and Dinalungan are two different places , we’re all looking at the positive results of what they are doing being an elected leaders of Aurora to prevent these ‘MGA GANID’ denuding Sierra Madre mountains’. Mahirap din iyung nasa ilalim ang kulo. Isang malaking hakbang iyung pag sibak niya kay Meliton Vicente ng Dingalan and i hope no one can buy justice.
