UPDATE: The fundraising part is over. The next phase is to buy the goods and to donate them to an NGO doing relief operation for distribution. We’re also considering directly donating the money we have raised. We will update again once we completed the work. Thanks to those who helped.

This is a small effort of a handful of young Aurorans in Manila who want to help the typhoon victims in Metro Manila. Batangbaler will be helping with the project. This is basically a drive to generate funds and supplies that would be used to buy relief goods – foods only. We’re just targeting donors who are Aurorans. The said relief goods will be repacked and donated to a yet-to-be determined NGO for distribution. Definitely, the goods will not be given to government agencies.

So, were calling on all concerned Aurorans who want to help with this effort. Here’s what you can do:

1. You can donate money. For those living abroad, preferred donation method is via Western Union or other instant remittance services. Bank transfers or paypal could also be used . Those in the Philippines can deposit to the bank accounts listed below. Those who are in Aurora are encouraged to donate money through bank deposit or money transfer services.

2. Those who are in Metro Manila can also donate goods. Foods like rice, canned foods, instant noodles, breads are preferred. No used clothings and other items please.

3. You can help spread this announcement through text, emails, facebook, friendster, twitter, etc. Please send to Aurorans only.

4. Volunteer for the operation. We will be needing manpower for the logistics and operation of the project.

Some concerns:

a. We’re looking for someone who can volunteer their house in Manila, preferably dry and with lots of spaces and easily accessible to be used as the operation headquarters for at least 5 days.

b. I’m looking for someone in Manila with a land bank account that can be used to deposit donations especially for those who are in Aurora.

c. Looking for someone in Baler who can volunteer to collect donations. I’m not presently in Baler so i need someone I know who can do the job.
