Messageboard Closed, Email Group Opened

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Due to some problems with malwares and spams, I have to close the messageboard. There were more spammers in the forum than real people.

To the forum members who turned homeless because of my demolition job, I have created a yahoo group where we can continue our discussions. the group name is batangbalergroup. Go there and sign-in for membership. Here’s the long address:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/batangbalergroup/

To the ANSHS grads populating the alumni thread, please go to the Galing Ansci website and offer yourselves for adoption. To my batchmates using the Batch 88 thread, email me at batangbaler at gmail dot com for plan B.

For those looking for a quick fix, the Batangbaler Chatroom is just one click away.

Baler, Aurora - List of Hotels, Resorts, Surf Shops, Restaurants and Groceries

Click here for the Baler, Aurora Tourists Directory

Batangbaler was not really created to cater to tourists. From the very start, the target audience of this site are locals of Baler and Aurora so i felt that there’s no need to put tourists info here. There’s aurora.ph for that. But lately I’ve been receiving lots of inquiries about places to stay or go to in Baler from both locals and tourists. I always refer them to the Provincial Tourism Office (since the municipality of Baler has no tourism programs). This is my way of helping these people who wants to visit the place. So until the provincial government, the 8 towns of Baler and the different establishments on the list decided to have their own website, this one should do.

By the way, watch out for the San Luis, Aurora website. Coming soon to a browser near you. In fact, don’t just watch out for the website, watch out for San Luis! I’m migrating :-) I’m not a city type.

Earth Hour

On 29 March 2008 the Philippines will join countries around the world as we literally “turn the lights out” for Earth Hour - an event that will fuel awareness on climate change and prove that when the people of the world work together, they can make a difference in the fight against global warming.

Earth Hour will take place throughout the Philippines from 8 to 9 in the evening on Saturday night, 29 March 2008. WWF invites you to participate by shutting off lights for 60 minutes, organizing your own “lights-out” event or by forwarding this mail to your friends, workmates and family.

Launched in Australia on the 31st of March 2007, Earth Hour moved 2.2 million people and 2100 businesses in Sydney to turn off their lights for one hour. This massive collective effort reduced the city’s energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour. With Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turning their lights off and unique events such as weddings by candlelight, the world took notice. Inspired by the collective effort of millions of Sydneysiders, many major global cities are joining Earth Hour in 2008, turning a symbolic event into a global movement.

YOUR participation will go a long way in spreading the message that we, as individual droplets working collectively – can create an impetus far more powerful than the mightiest of rivers. For more information, log on to the WWF Earth Hour page at: www.earthhour.org.
