The Mutya ng Pilipinas Chronicles

Thanks to Ate Dons for her excellent coverage of the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2009 at her blog – Donna Whatto Say! Unfortunately, she can’t cover the coronation night live because the “tickets and invitations people” of the event, in all their infinite wisdom, ignored the local bloggers (BatangBaler included) who serves as the only source of information for the Aurorans who are not in Baler, especially those who are abroad since the official sites, aurora.ph, baleraurora.net and even mutyapilipinas.com are silent about the event and are not updating.

Some of Ate Don’s updates:

The Chronicles of Mutya ng Pilipinas
Mutya Headshots
In the Eye of the Beholder
Much Ado About Mutya
Mabuhay to Mutya ng Pilipinas

(Update: Unfortunately, the Donna What to Say Blog was lost during the website migration of Batangbaler)

Donna What to Say

Donna What to Say

Ate Donna, the one behind the Tribute to Baler series posted here, here, and here, has been keeping a blog on her trusty friendster account for more than a year now. Some energy saving lamp suddenly popped-up in my spoonful of a brain when I read her posts and offered her her own space in Batangbaler. A couple of days later and the blog is reborn. It’s called Donna What to Say and according to the blog’s description, it offers “spunky! spirited! striking! sensible! sweet! starstruck! hip! hyper! heartfelt!!” contents, the kind I would have liked to put on Batangbaler myself if i’m not gifted with chronic case of laziness. Visit her site, you will like it. It’s at donna.batangbaler.net

(Update: Unfortunately, Donnawhattosay! is no more)

By the way, Baler is actually more than 400 years old. It’s already here when the Spanish landed in 1609.

Little Paradise. From Raneil Antonio Ibay’s Multiply Page:

Merely describing Baler would not suffice. You’d have to be there to know what I mean. Experiencing this little paradise for yourself is the only way you’ll see the true essence of Baler.

The Mission of Casiguran

Agta Ako is blogging Casiguran again. Go to the website and read a longish article about the 400 years Anniversary of the founding of the Mission of Casiguran. The town will celebrate the quadricentennial anniversary of its evangelization next week, which is their Fiesta. I want to go, someone invite me!

We heard that some officials in Casiguran are doubting the fact that it’s Casiguran’s 400th founding. What could be the motive or benefit that can be derived from making Casiguran younger? “Matanda na tum bayan tam ay…” the saying goes.

By the way, i’m still waiting for the official Baler, Aurora website to be updated. It’s not enough to put up a website. Content is King!
