“Baler” movie unofficial trailer is now online. It’s tagged as unofficial but it was uploaded by the movie director Mark Meily himself. Watch it!

And watch it again! And again. The dumagats shooting arrows at the church clinched it for me. It’s like Lord of the Rings.

This latest promo video from the Aurora Tourism Office features a motherload of things you can do while in Aurora. Personally, I tried only the trek thingy. Watch:

I like their new copy “One Destination, Endless Adventure”. It’s better than the BACkronym “Breathtaking, Adventure, Complete”. And no politician in sight in the whole video. Wonderful!

The Baler movie crew is currently in town to shoot some scenes for the movie. A crew member posted somewhere in the comments asking us Balerians not to make their work complicated by NOT visiting the set. In other words - “Don’t bother us folks!!”. Let’s grant them their wishes and ignore them like we usually do when famous people visit our place. For your info, the filming of the movie is almost over. They will only be here for two days to shoot some scenes.

How’s this picture for geographical accuracy - Jericho and Anne dating by the beach, with a beautiful view of a sunset over the bay. If you’re from Baler, you’ll immediately notice there’s something wrong.

Regarding my post about Jonathan Urbano’s performance at Araneta Coliseum and my remark that he’s probably the only Balerian to perform in the venue, a commenter volunteered an info that a certain Rochelle Dela Cruz a member of the FEU Chorale also performed at the place this Ocober. She also performed with the choir on TV. Let’s give Rochelle a standing ovation for her achievement.

By the way, here’s Jonathan performing Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas. The video suddenly reminded me of Ka Senyong.

And an update on Joyce Molina’s bid to be the first Turismo Pilipino winner. She didn’t make it, but she’s still our Ms. Baler. Sherylee Sustiguer, a 5′7″ beauty from Norther Samar bagged the first ever Miss Turismo Pilipina title. Read the news here. And view the photos here.

And finally, Aurorans can now boast that Aurora Province is the best tourist destination in North Luzon. That’s after Aurora won the Best Destination award in the recently concluded North Philippines Tourism and Travel Expo. Pictures from the event coming soon.

Ito ay kuha sa Baler, Aurora. Ang video na ito, kagaya ng iba pang mga Aurora underwater videos na galing sa Provincial Tourism Office ay kuha ni Ernan Dukha at inedit ni Ryan Ritual. Kasama din sa pagbi-video ang batikang si Macmac Ritual.

Sa tingin ko naman ay maganda ang kalalabasan ng sineng ito. Magaling ang direktor at ang mga artistang gaganap. Sa hindi mga taga-Baler na kagaya natin, wala silang mapapansing kakaiba. Pero sa ating mga antigung Akaw, mapapansin natin ang mga detalye siyempre dahil taga Baler tayo. Makikita nating mali ang dagat, mali ang pagsasalita, ang kung anu-anu pang maliliit na anik-anik.

At magtataka din tayu kung bakit may mga maliliit na bunduk sa paligid ng simbahan ng Baler sa pelikula. Panoorin ang balitang ito mula sa TV Patrol at pansinin:

Medyo huli na ito pero ihabul natin. Ang ating kababayang si Jonathan Urbano at ang kanyang bandang Mirahel (ang banda sa likod ng awiting Dampi sa PCSO commercial) at tumugtog bilang front act ng Spandau Ballet noong August 9 sa Araneta Coliseum. Dapat natin itong salubungin ng masigabong palakpakan dahil simula ng itayo ang Araneta Coliseum ay baka si Jonathan pa lamang ang tiga Baler na nakapag-perform dito. Kung may iba pa ay pakisabi lamang nang mapalakpakan din natin.

Maliban sa pagiging miyembro ng Mirahel (may album sila na mabibili sa inyong suking records store), si Jonathan, na tiga Suklayin, ay kasali rin sa banda ni Aiza Seguerra. Kasama niya ang magkakambal na sila Mike Villegas at Angelo Villegas, dalawang haligi ng musikang Pinoy. Si Aiza nga pala ay may bagong album na pinamagatang Open Arms. Ang album na ito ay kasalukuyang No. 1 sa Singapore.

Isa na namang video mula sa Provincial Tourism Office. Ngayun naman ay itinatampok ang mga surfers ng Baler, at siyempre ang mga world-class na surfing spots ng Aurora. Saksihan!

Nag hit ang underwater video post ng Provincial Tourism Office kaya ginawan agad nila ng sequel. Ito naman ang Dive Baler. Ang tigakuha nga pala nila video ay si Ernan Dukha sa ilalim at si Mac Ritual sa ibabaw. Si Ryan Ritual ang tiga edit.

Kaya ko ito nilagay dito ay dahil tiga Baler ang Sound Designer at Supervisor dito - si Ronald De Asis. Si Ronald ay kilala na sa larangan ito sa bansa. Nung 2006 ay nanalo siya sa Urian Award at Cinemalaya Film Festival ng Best Sound para sa pelikulang Tulad ng Dati. Ilan sa mga pelikulang siya ang sound supervisor o sound engineer ay ang Pisay, Tiyanaks, Balahibong Pusa, Ligay ang Itawag mo sa Akin, at Magic Temple. Nandito ang kanyang imdb profile.

Isang bagsak para sa ating kababayan na si Ronald De Asis.

Ang Pangkat Kawayan ay isang percussion group ng mga batang mag-aaral sa Baler Central School. At ayun nga sa kanilang pangalan, halus lahat na gamit nila ay mga instrumentong yari sa kawayan. 2003 ko ito sila unang napanood pero mas matagal pa silang nabuo. Ang kanilang trainor/conductor noon ay si Mrs. Hernandez. Tumugtog na sila sa labas ng Aurora at naipalabas na sila sa national TV. AKala ko nawala na itong grupong ito pero nitong nakaraang piyesta ng Baler ay ilang beses rin silang nagtanghal. Iba na ang kumukumpas at iba na rin ang mga tumutugtog. Pero ganun pa rin sila kagagaling.
